perimenopause symptoms and treatments

Perimenopause

The months/ years leading up to your menopause are referred to as perimenopause, meaning “around menopause”. This period may be marked by changes in your menstrual flow and in the length of the cycle. Perimenopause is a natural transition, but can be fraught with discomfort for some. Your hormone levels are changing, which start affecting everything from your skin and hair to body and mental health. At Adrita, our doctors help you prepare for this menopausal transition, so you can thrive in this new chapter of your life!

Irregular periods & hot flashes are clues from your body to tell you that your hormones are changing.

How do I know if I am in perimenopause?

This transition is a gradual process when symptoms ebb and flow, so it can be hard to recognise changes in your body. You may have begun perimenopause without even knowing it. Changes in your periods may be the first sign that you may be entering perimenopause. Your period can become lighter or heavier, briefer or longer, more frequent or more spaced out than usual. You can also experience other symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, or changes in your skin & hair, your energy levels, mental health, sleep patterns and sexual desire.

Do I need to see a doctor for perimenopause?

It’s always a good idea to see your doctor once a year, especially if you are over 40. But it becomes even more important to visit your Gynaecologist if you experience any of these symptoms:
