Fibroids

Fibroids, or uterine fibroids, are non-cancerous tumours that grow in the uterus. Women can have a single fibroid or multiple fibroids and they can range from the size of a seed to the size of a melon. While the exact cause of fibroids is not known, they are affected by genetic factors, and hormones estrogen and progesterone. Many women may not experience any symptoms for Fibroids, but those who do will experience heavy periods and pelvic pain. Fibroids treatment depends on the condition, and can range from medications to surgery.

Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian Cysts are common solid or fluid-filled sacs or pockets that grow on or inside your ovaries. Most commonly, Ovarian Cysts are harmless, don’t cause symptoms and eventually go away without treatment. But sometimes cysts can become twisted or burst open, leading to serious symptoms like pelvic pain, feeling of pressure or fullness in your belly and bloating. Certain fertility treatments, pregnancy, endometriosis and pelvic infections increase your risks of getting ovarian cysts.
Regular pelvic exams help ensure that changes in your ovaries are diagnosed as early as possible. Schedule your pelvic exam today.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, in places where it does not belong. This can result in severe pelvic pain, and make it harder for you to get pregnant. If you have endometriosis, you may also experience severe pain during periods, sexual intercourse, bowel movements and/or urination. While there is no cure for endometriosis, treatment can help manage symptoms.
If you experience severe pain during periods, or any unexplained pelvic pain, do not suffer in silence! Make an appointment.

Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis occurs when the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrial tissue) starts growing into the muscular wall of the uterus. It can result in an enlarged uterus and heavy, painful periods. Treatment for Adenomyosis can range from hormone therapy, or removal of the uterus (hysterectomy). If you have prolonged, heavy bleeding or severe cramping during your periods, make an appointment.

Hysterectomy

A Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes your uterus. It may also involve removal of cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and other surrounding structures – referred to as a Total Hysterectomy. There are different reasons why you may need to get a Hysterectomy, including to treat abnormal bleeding, uterine prolapse, fibroids and cancer. Once your uterus is removed, you stop having periods, and cannot get pregnant. Recovery from a Hysterectomy procedure varies depending on what kind of surgery you had, but most patients recover in four to six weeks.

Thyroid Issues

Thyroid disease can happen if your body is producing too much or too little of the thyroid hormones. Women are more likely than men to have thyroid diseases, especially right after pregnancy and after menopause. Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is most common in middle-aged women. As your estrogen levels decrease during menopause, it may also affect thyroid function. Most thyroid conditions can be easily treated with medication, along with monitoring the hormone levels in the blood.

Yeast Infections

The skin and mucosa of our body has its own microbiome – with bacteria (both good & bad) and certain kinds of fungus existing in a delicate balance. This balance is controlled by the pH, hormonal changes, blood sugar levels and our body’s immunity. If there is an unfavourable change in any of these factors, the fungus – a kind of yeast known as candida, can overgrow and cause candidiasis. Women are quite prone to candida vaginal infections. The common symptoms include itching or redness in your private area, & a burning sensation when you pee. Vaginal infections are treatable. If you experience any such symptoms, consult with us.
